Lost my love for this place. Prices up and service is down. Darn it. I'm sad.
Not sure if we will be giving them future chances.
We ordered 2 dozen tamales and they were too spicy for nearly every guest at our party.

" A Hidden Mexican Gem, With A Great Owner "

I was looking for a better, real Mexican Food, with a real Mexican taste store & Restaurant, where I could go to to get some freshly made Flour & Corn Tortilla's. So I went to the Garcia's Puebla Mercado in El Cajon to see what they had to offer. I walked into the store and met the owner Evodio Garcia. He was so nice and friendly, as he answered all of my questions about his wide variety of Mexican Food they have in the store. The store makes you feel like you are in real Mexico. All of the items I saw today were authentic Mexican products. They also make a wide range of Mexican fresh items which includes Flour & Corn Tortillas, Chicarrones, Carne Asada, a variety of Mexican Hot Sauces, Pollo El Carbon, Chili Rellanos,Tamales, Frijoles (Mexican Beans), Tortilla Chips, Pan Dulce (sweetbreads), and that's not everything. Evodio Garcia the owner, went in the back of the kitchen and brought me out Free samples to taste, of many different items I was asking about. Nobody does that ! Everything was fresh and delicious, and tasted just like it tastes in Mexico ! I bought some Flour & Corn Tortillas, and Frijoles to take home to my wife. They also do off site catering. I will definitely be back to this real, and authentic, Garcia's Mexican Puebla Mercado.

Never been here. Just came in to get 2dozen tamales and the owner asked me if I have ever had their tamales before, he asked me which one I said Beef, he heats one up for me and tells me to try, who does that nowadays, really good customer service all around. He gave me couple extra and chips and salsa on the house. Definitely will come back for more. Yes it is a little pricey, but worth it... remember these are ma&pa shops. You gotta pay a little more for them.

I've been going to Garcia's for many years now.  Their products are very delicious and they're easy to do business with.  I made 60 lbs of carnitas for a couple Knights of Columbus events.  I get all the fixins from Garcia's.  When I start running short I can call them up and they'll have just as good a batch of pork ready to go.

Fresh tortillas daily and a full range of handmade salsas, rojo o verde, suave to muy picante. For Christmas tamales their masa preparada is as good as it gets.

The owner stashes chiltepines under the counter for sale. The last time though I got 50% chile piquin instead of 100% chiltepines. I've got to ask him about that.
